New stop for the project “EnerGREEN MAINTENANCE Around the World” where we tell you stories and protagonists of companies and public bodies that are involved in vegetation maintenance and have decided to entrust their business to the quality of Energreen machines.
In this episode we are in Sicily, at the foot of Mount Etna, to meet Sicilville company in the field of green care since the 60’s.

Sicilville is based in Randazzo (Catania), at the foot of the northern side of Mount Etna. We are surrounded by a fantastic landscape where, thanks to the wonderful day, the pastel colors of the hills stand out against a clear sky.
The company, as CEO Giuseppe Russo tells us, was founded in the 1960’s under the willingness of Russo family, as a garden center, and later expanded into different areas of work.
Today, Sicilville defined itself as a company for green maintenance at 360°: from natural engineering works to the care of gardens and turfs, and finally to the mechanical grass mowing along main roads and highways network of Italy.
As Giuseppe Russo tells us, the company strong point lies in a young and proactive staff, capable of applying new and innovative technologies to complete projects and present new ones.

We follow Sicilville operators on two different working days, from the southern to the northern tip of Italy.

On the first day we are along the highway that connects Catania to Palermo.
Here, Sicilville workers mow grass and brushes in the green space that separate the highway lanes.
The radio-controlled RoboGREEN evo – forerunner of today’s RoboEVO – equipped with a grass flail head, cuts the green turf in the central part, especially defining the most hidden spaces difficult to reach.

Together with him, there are two self-propelled machines ILF S1500, already forerunner of modern ILF Alpha.
The self-propelled machines equipped with New Speed flail head, mow grass and bushes with ease and in a single pass. Thanks to the 180° rotating unit, the machines can move along the guardrail in either direction, saving time and fuel. In addition, the 12-meter telescopic boom makes it easy to cover the entire width of the space, optimizing time and avoiding additional manpower and vehicle movements.

Operations are carried out according to high safety standards, both for workers and drivers, who, warned by special boards, are able to easily dodge Energreen vehicles.

On the second day we move to the north, nearby Mestre, Venice area, where Sicilville activity consists in cutting vegetation along a main road.
The combination of two ILF Kommunal with two ILF Alpha provides flexibility and productivity, cutting as much vegetation as possible, and ensure a large visibility for drivers.
With as many as four New Speed grass heads in action, the self-propelled machines manage to cut more than three meters of bank in a single pass. What a wonder to see four Energreen machines in a row, their telescopic arms stretched lengthwise, almost forming a game of arches.
